"Red Emma", July 12, 2007

Well, o.k. Pink Emma. Emma asked Susan to buy more red finger paint so we could make "red Emma and red Dad". Unfortunately, when mixed with white shaving cream you get pink.

As you can tell, she has watched Daddy shave, and has even helped with his shaving cream. They had a blast.

Also, Emma is 2 1/2 years old today!

Shelby Marie's Birthday Party, October 21, 2006

Here are some pictures of Emma from a classmates Birthday Party at Toddlearn.

This was my first chance to go to Toddlearn with Emma and Susan, which Emma calls Toddler School. When she was still mostly signing she would rock (toddle) back and forth and then sign school, when she was talking about it. Absolutely ADORABLE to see. Toddlearn is a Mom and Tot program in a fully outfitted preschool classroom, with lots of manipulative, pretend play, and gross motor activities. Classes are an hour a week plus "Park", which is an hour of free play. Ms. Christy (the owner/teacher) plans activities for the first forty-five minutes of the class, and there is free play after that.

This was Emma's favorite activity during her first session at Toddler School. The little car is on a track that goes up and down like a rollercoaster. She would ride it again and again and again, only stopping to let other children have their turn.

Christmas Vacation, December 21, 2006

I started my Christmas vacation on the 21st, so I was able to go to Toddlearn with Emma and Susan.

The children love rolling the balls through these tubes. There is an area at the bottom for them to collect. (Emma has a tendency to climb on this so she can slide down. (There is a center section with no tubes.)
WHEEE!!! She enjoys riding the "rollercoaster" forwards and backwards, as is demostrated here.

More fun in the little circle cart.
Emma and Mommy playing the tambourine. Ms. Christy has lots of instruments for the children to explore.
She also has a lot of dress up clothes.

Toddlearn, July 4, 2007

I went to Toddlearn with Susan and Emma on July 4th. Ms. Christy was nice enough to be open so that some of the working parents could make it. We had a lot of fun, and I got to take some pictures. There was paper and glue out to make flags. Here is Emma's interpretation of the American Flag.

One of the other directed activities was trying to throw poker chips into buckets. This is not an easy task for an adult, as I found out. They do not fly particularly straight. Emma made more in than I did!

More Toddlearn, July 4, 2007

She loves to be thrown around the room in this. Ms. Christy stores balls in it, which Emma emptied in order to ride in it.
Bouncing! (Which is harder than it looks.)
She has been having a absolute blast jumping or sliding into the ball pit lately.

October 24 - 27, 2006

These pictures are from October and December of last year. It seems I had a folder or two of pictures that I did not post at the end of last year. Susan noticed them last time I was working on pictures, so here they are. The cat ears are as close to a Halloween costume as we got.

July 2nd and 3rd

On July 1st, we went to Baton Rouge to visit Susan's cousin Beth, her husband Mike, and their 4 month old daughter Olivia, who were in town from New Jersey. Emma and Mommy are looking at a picture from our visit. Emma often asks to see "Beth, Mike and Baby Olivia" now when she sees Daddy's computer.

Airplane! July 3, 2007

We recently got an advertisement for the YMCA with a Dad holding a little boy like this. Emma wanted to give it a try. I think she likes it.

And in for a smooth landing.
